Save a Horse!

Our goal at 3rd Coast Sanctuary is to raise awareness and funds to help promote the fight against the extinction of our iconic American Mustangs, along with the need to save all horses from abuse, slaughter and inhumane conditions. We not only “save a horse” we also save any animal that we possibly can.  Funds raised are used to purchase horses and burros from kill pens and transport them to safety, including their possible long-term feed and care at our facility.  We also ensure that horses are trained with the most natural horsemanship skills available, so that they may be vetted and socialized without consequence from their previous interaction with humans. We ensure that they love and trust humans. We also use funds to continue to educate the public on what is happening to the iconic American Mustang.  We are of the opinion that horses are not food and that every animal should be in a safe, loving environment and go to bed with a full belly.  We are an accredited 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. We have been verified and earned a “Platinum Seal of Transparency” from Candid.org.

3rd Coast Sanctuary Founder & President, Photographer, Mustang Advocate

To capture the soul of a wild horse on film, one must either be invisible in sight, sound and scent, or have permission and approval from the horse.  The first is nearly impossible, particularly in the case of wild horses.  The latter is a gift that precious few photographers can enjoy.

Jennifer Glassman’s photography captures rare glimpses, showing explosive power and peaceful tranquility of Mustangs in the wild.   Her artistry with motion, composition, depth of field and phenomenal patience, all contribute to this emotional photographic portrayal of beautiful sentient beings.

Viewers of Glassman’s images could scarcely guess that until 2010, her lifelong passion for horses remained untapped.  Her 20-year career as a film and television executive and full-time parent left her precious little time to explore this passion – or any others.

During her initiation to the equestrian world Glassman became quickly educated by the Cowboys and Cowgirls at Sunset Ranch, Hollywood, about the harsh realities facing our Mustangs in America and beyond.  Hearing for the first time how they are chased to exhaustion by helicopters, then rounded up and housed under inhumane conditions, she remembers being utterly horrified “The information I heard and then researched about these amazing animals and how the BLM was allowing these roundups did not make sense.  How did I NOT KNOW?   Why wasn’t this in the news?”  And ultimately she began educating herself with a goal to help.

And to help, Glassman not only picked up her camera, she also began rescuing Mustangs in need.   For the past 13 years Glassman has worked with Mustangs and other animal rescue organizations such as the Wild Horse Sanctuary and Skydog Ranch, to help lead the charge saving Mustangs from a horrible death and finding alternatives to shipping horses across the US lines to an unimaginable fate.

With a dream to provide safe haven for Mustangs and any horse in need, in 2020, Glassman founded 3rd Coast Sanctuary, a 501c3 non-profit, located Michigan.

In addition, All proceeds generated by sales from Glassman’s photography directly benefit @3rdcoastsanctuary, and any corresponding sanctuary where the rescue horse may reside , including www.skydogranch.org and  www.wildhorsesanctuary.org.
